Jerzy Wiszniewski Foundation

Prof. Jerzy Wiszniewski was a well-known Polish lawyer, law professor, and author of academic textbooks.

The foundation named in his honour was established pursuant to the will of his daughter, Prof. Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka, an outstanding lawyer and judge for many years on the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland and the General Court (part of the Court of Justice of the European Union, formerly known as the Court of First Instance of the European Communities).

The foundation’s aims and methods

The foundation seeks to contribute to the international advancement of competition, trademark and antitrust law. These are vital areas of law for economic growth and innovation.

To this end, every four years the foundation organizes an international competition for the Prof. Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka Prize. The competition will select an outstanding scholarly work devoted to these fields of law.

The foundation also seeks to commemorate the work and scholarly accomplishments of Prof. Jerzy Wiszniewski and Prof. Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka as outstanding lawyers and important figures in Polish and international jurisprudence.

Management Board

The management board of the Wiszniewski Foundation is made up of:

  • Tomasz Wardyński, president of the management board
  • Stefan Jacyno, member of the management board
  • Włodzimierz Szoszuk, member of the management board
  • Marzena Białasik-Kendzior, secretary to the management board
